New Haven Wins the Playoffs

I want to congratulate New Haven on its well-deserved playoff victory and to Hartford for valiantly almost winning four games in one day. Just like last year, the playoffs turned out to be a real surprise with teams not expected to do getting to the finals. We had another successful despite the usual challenges we have as a league where the teams and individual players are so far apart geographically. We also had to contend with rain or a threat of rain almost every week. Fortunately, weather did not affect this weekend's playoffs. I want to thank the team managers, who had to perform many hours of work in organizing and coordinating their teams. Our league board, despite our differences at times, all have the same goal in mind, the betterment of our league. Our league will have its winter organizational meeting sometime in February after I return from the NAGAAA winter meetings. We will then work to further improve the workings of our league. Our next league officer elections will be in 2010. I would like to see more people, particularly our newer league members, consider running for all board seats. Finally, I would be remiss if I did not thank our league sponsors. Without them we would not exist. Besides financial support every week they graciously provide hospitality for all the playing teams and fans. Have a healthy, enjoyable fall and winter. I hope to see you all next spring and bring your friends to play.
